Bookmarked // November

I know, I know, it’s like the 6th of December, and this post is very delayed…..

I’ve been super busy organising for my trip in a couple of weeks and my posts seem to have fallen further and further down the list of things to do. I promise to improve! Really, I do!

So without further ado, here is the lowdown on what happened in November…

THIS MONTH I HAVE BEEN …

It’s a long one this month, so I’ll make it brief!

Top Row

1. Amazing gelato from Crem de la Crem in Barranco. Delicious chocolate, lúcuma and giandjua flavours.

2. 3 meats cooked on volcanic stone in a fantastic ‘ the Andes meets the Alps’ type restaurant called Zig Zag in Arequipa.

3. Pisco cocktails from the Museo del Pisco in Arequipa. So many different flavours of macerated pisco, but the star anise and rosemary infused ones were absolutely delicious.

4. Look at that incredible colour! Beautiful cocktails in Maido, especially this one flavoured with the fruit tuna rojo (red prickly pear).

5. & 6. Great Sunday lunch in La Casa de Don Cucho in Pachacamac. Delicious pachamanca (meat, vegetables and potatoes cooked underground, and a velvety rich suspiro de limeño flavoured with lucuma.

Middle Row

1. Craft beer from the Magdalena brewery and a crossover brew (Nevados Unidos) between Sierra Andina and Arequipa’s own Grateful Brewing Company. Both beers were delightful and very different, and found in Chaqchao in Arequipa.

2. A huge sharing plate of Arequipeña specialities from the wonderful La Nueva Palomino.

3. Aji de Gallina from Paseo Colon in Jockey Plaza Lima. I loved the addition of crispy potatoes instead of boiled ones mixed in with the chicken.

4. A beautiful, sumptuous tiradito of tuna from El Mercado, Lima.

5. Sarita‘s famous sandwich de chicharron (fried pork) in Punta Hermosa.

6. A bottle of refreshing Tio Luque beer in Wicks Brewpub.

Bottom Row

1. An amazing triple chocolate dessert, with coca flavoured créme anglaise, from Colca Lodge restaurant in the Colca Valley. A wonderful place to stay!

2. Fantastic risotto with trout and poached egg from La Trattoria del Monasterio in Arequipa. See this post for more info!

3. Another meal from Colca Lodge, but this time a parilla (BBQ or grill) with a choice of 3 meats/fish. Both the beef and chicken were absolutely perfectly cooked and so, so juicy!

4. My main dish from Maido consisted of an oriental style tacu tacu (rice and bean dish) topped with beautifully cooked pancetta.

5. & 6. Virgilio Martinez’s new restaurant NOS does not disappoint. This rice dish was scrumptious, which I followed with that amazing chocolate cake I previously tried on my birthday. This was all enjoyed whilst sipping on a citrusy gin cocktail with elderflower. Just perfect!
